We offer postgraduate qualifications in Nuclear Engineering and Science through the innovative Nuclear Technology Education Consortium (NTEC) MSc programme and the Industrial Doctorate Centre (IDC) which offers an Engineering Doctorate degree (EngD). At undergraduate level we offer a 3 year BEng and a 4 year MEng in Mechanical Engineering with Nuclear.

Cogent indicate that the new UK civil nuclear fleet will require up to 140,000 person years in construction, operation and manufacture.  The age profile within the nuclear sector means that an additional 14,000 specialist employees will need to be replaced over the next fifteen years to support the safe operation of nuclear power stations, the decommissioning programme and the management of radioactive waste; requiring around 400 graduates to join the industry each year. The make-up of the nuclear workforce is highly skilled with around 70% classed as technical, professional or senior management.

The Institute has played a leading role in establishing new undergraduate, postgraduate and Continual Professional Development (CPD) programmes to meet the nuclear skills challenge.  This is providing an ever-increasing flow of graduates into the nuclear sector and a major growth in strategic collaborations with nuclear stakeholders and the immediate supply chain.

The Institute focuses its educational development through a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development courses. Links to the nuclear postgraduate and undergraduate courses available through Manchester are highlighted below.
